A: It is normal for child to start developing teeth anywhere from birth to almost two years.  As long as teeth appear within this time and have what you think are normal characteristics, it is recommended the child see a dentist at about three and a half years of age.  However, if you have a dental appt before this time, it is a great idea to bring them along to introduce them to the surroundings.

A: Bleaching systems at the drug store typically have a lower percentage of active ingredient than what the dentist uses.  These over the counter products are much cheaper and will eventually provide the desired effect.  However, they usually require several applications of at least 45 min in duration every day for up to two weeks.  Either method can lead to sensitivity. If this becomes a problem, it is recommended the applications be discontinued.  Bleaching systems in the dental office include the application of desensitizing agents which guarantee a more comfortable experience.  Results are achieved much sooner.
